MSA protested the corporate agenda outside FordFest in Scarborough on June 23

By Barry Weisleder | Municipal Socialist Alliance

While a crowd of Conservatives gathered in the rain in Scarborough's Thomson Park on June 23 to celebrate their hero Ontario Premier Thug Ford, health care workers, tenants and socialists picketed the event. The so-called FordFest is an annual affair, replete with free hotdogs and kiddie rides. Municipal Socialist Alliance members distributed hundreds of flyers for the Vote Socialist, Kiri Vadivelu for Mayor campaign at the park entrance.

"Re-hire the nurses", "Rescind (wage freeze) Bill 124", "Dump Thug Ford with a General Strike", "No to Strong Mayor Powers", and "Money for Housing, not for cops to criminalize the poor" were among the slogans heard along a stretch of Brimley Road. Many passing drivers honked their approval.
